| Goodbye Neon, Hello LED! |
 |
| by
Joshua Juarez, Inside Sales, RSI Power,
Inc.
Ahh,
Las Vegas: home of RSI Power, Inc,
but better known as the City of
Lights! How often have you enjoyed
standing on the Strip basking in
it's perpetual daylight (or dreaming
of doing so)? It's a cultural icon,
a hefty slice of American pop-culture,
a mecca for Elvis worshippers and
martini-drinking partyers and eager
gamblers. But it's also an electrical
marvel, home to some of the most
elaborate and intricate display
signage in the world. Once called
the "City of Neon", Las Vegas is
quickly turning into the "City of
LED's".
All
major casinos have invested heavily
in new LED technology. On a daily
basis, you can witness their ferocious
attempts to out-do each other with
the construction of bigger and better
displays built to entice even the
most timid soul to venture inside
their places of business. The reason
for this sudden stampede to LED
power? Even though this new signage
is bigger and bolder and more visually
stunning than ever before, make
no doubt about it, the casinos are
SAVING money in the process.
MGM,
Mandalay Bay and many others have
found the value in having LED signs.
A multi-story LED sign will pay
itself off in five years... FIVE
YEARS! That means after five years,
your wonderful customers are not
carrying the burden of paying for
your advertising sign costs anymore.
That means happier customers AND
happier vendors (ie, a happier you).
The reason for the savings is simple:
An LED sign uses much less power
than a neon sign. Most Neon signs
are now on their way to the neon
museum (check out this cool little
link for a bit of that "Neon Nostalgia":
Neon Museum) to make room for the next
generation of lighted displays.
Beyond
the circumference of the Las Vegas
strip, many doctor's offices, gas
stations, banks, grocery stores,
malls -- heck, you name it -- are
now advertising with LED lights.
With LED signage, a company's immediate
ability to announce today's interest
rate, a special on tuna, or new
low gas prices can equal big sales.
And sales is the name of the game.
An LED sign is your open door to
a potential customer.
As
your friend in the LED power supply
space, allow me to make one recommendation:
when you do go and purchase your
own LED sign, please note the power
supply it requires. You will need
the right power supply to realize
the best savings for your LED sign,
so give me a call and I will be
happy to assist you in finding the
best solution for your particular
application.
Have
a great month!

| The
Boy and the Frog
A
boy was crossing the road one day
when a frog called out to him and
said, "If you kiss me, I'll turn
into a beautiful princess." He bent
over, picked up the frog and put
it in his pocket.
The
frog spoke up again and said, "If
you kiss me and turn me back into
a beautiful Princess, I will stay
with you for one week." The boy
took the frog out of his pocket,
smiled at it and returned it to
his pocket.
The
frog then cried out, "If you kiss
me and turn me back into a beautiful
Princess, I'll stay with you and
do *Anything* you want." Again the
boy took the frog out, smiled at
it and put it back into his pocket.
Finally
the frog asked, "What is it? I've
told you I'm a beautiful Princess,
that I'll stay with you for a week
and do *Anything* you want. Why
won't you kiss me?"
The
boy said, "Look, I'm an engineer.
I don't have time for girlfriends,
but a talking frog is really cool."
