ISA Sign Show ?A Customer’s Prospective
(RSI received this narrative from a customer who visited us at the
ISA Sign Show last month in Las Vegas, and we thought we’d share
it with all our newsletter readers).
Wow! I’m going to Las Vegas! Having spent many years on the reciprocal
side of the sign business, depending on it to announce “we’re open
for business? or giving a visual account of my products, it was
an eye opening experience to see how one industry relies on another.
Attending the recent ISA Sign Show gave me a new eye opening experience
in this industry: The LED exhibits, displaying messages and life
like figures on a gigantic screen; the huge printers pouring out
museum quality pictures and exotic art work; mechanical hi-speed
saws transforming blocks of foam, plastic or wood into monumental
ornaments; not to mention the neon world and the little guy, still
making magnetic signs; they were all there and accounted for.
Walking the show floor with the President of RSI, Charles Plotts,
I realized there are volumes to learn: new terminologies, processes,
sales approaches, product applications, the competition ?the list
goes on and on.
In an attempt to save myself from another gray hair, I reinforced
my confidence in reverting back to basics: Quality, Service and
keeping the customer Satisfied. Definitely a Hospitality industry
mainstream philosophy. The rest will come with help from peers,
customers, and self-imposed knowledge thirst. The articles in Sign
Builder Illustrated have assisted in the education process. My peers
Jim, Josh, Rick and Ray at RSI have also contributed to the process.
Speaking of Sign Builders Illustrated, I just discovered a new article
I should read. The New Kid is going to class, again, but it’s exciting
and challenging. Who knew?

Power FAQs
Every month in this section we will address a question we are often
asked by our customers. If you have one you’d like answered, please
email your question to jim@rsipower.com.
Q:
“If I buy a power supply with a higher output voltage, will the
LED strip lights become brighter??
A:
It is extremely important that you buy a power supply which provides
the output voltage that the manufacturer of your LED strip lights
recommends. While a higher voltage can make the LED's brighter,
the strip lights are designed with current limiting components,
which are intended to keep the LED's operating at optimum performance
and reliability. Simply increasing the output voltage beyond the
manufacturer's recomended range can actually affect the life and
performance of your LED system. If in doubt, contact the manufacturer
or refer to their product specifications. You can also call us,
and we will assist you in finding the information you need regarding
the required power supply.
RSI’s Monthly Recap ?Exciting LED developments
This year's ISA (International Sign Association) show (April 3rd
?5th) here in Las Vegas, NV was a tremendous success. The turnout
was astounding as many great new products were unveiled and showcased,
drawing sizable crowds. Many of these new products depend upon new
technologies that are quickly transforming today's lighting industry.
The most exciting of these was the introduction of "High Brightness
LED" products, which promise to replace all existing forms of lighting:
channel lighting, interior decorative lighting, and soon, general
commercial and household lighting. This great new technology, which
in the past was used only to illuminate radio tuning indicator lights
on your car stereo, has evolved into a new form of lighting that
is much more reliable, energy efficient, and flexible than previous
technologies. There are so many possibilities, that every lighting
OEM, shop, and retail center, should consider using this new technology,
and benefit from its mind-boggling business potential.
We at RSI have embraced this new technology by creating a new power
product, which is specifically designed for many types of LED lighting
applications. Our line of Class 2 power supplies and constant-current
drivers are ideal for all your LED lighting projects. Our products
will provide you with the efficient and clean power you need, complimenting
your energy efficient LED lighting system, and most importantly,
greatly reducing your overall lighting system cost. Market delivery
of our products is planned for June, so call us with your lighting
applications, and we will match the right power product for your
project.
